The sleep regime actually is a part of our biological clock, which is very particular for each person in part, and changing to summer time messed with the rhythms of the organism.

Moldovans sleep an hour more on the weekend

Magenta Consulting learned how much attention Moldovans pay to their sleep regime through a survey that asked Moldovans how many hours they spent sleeping and at what hour they went to bed. Thus, Moldovans sleep in average 5.9 hours on the weekend and 5.2 hours on workdays. The most on the weekend sleep young persons aged between 16 and 25 years old, certainly pupils, single persons and the persons who have a monthly income of over 10 000 lei.

Moldovans who have a constant number of sleep hours both during the week and on weekends are to a greater extent represented by widows and persons who are over 51 years old, therefore, including retirees. During weekdays, 42% of Moldovans go to bed at 23:00, 30% are in bed from 22:00, and 16% go to bed at midnight. On weekends the number of those who go to bed after midnight increases, 8% at 01:00, 4% at 02:00, and 2% at 03:00 o’clock.

Among those who fall asleep at 22:00 o’clock during weekdays the majority are children and pupils until the age of 16, retirees who are over 61 years old and widows. And the share of those who go to bed at 00:00 o’clock during weekdays is represented by persons between 22 and 30 years old, single persons, those who are in a cohabitation relationship, students, and Moldovans who have their own business.

During the weekend the most active at night are most certainly the young persons who are not yet 25 years old, therefore – students, single persons and respondents who have an income of over 20 000 lei per month. On the other hand, in the category of Moldovans who go to bed early even during weekends are in a larger number the interviewees who are over 30 years old, widows, retirees and Moldovans who have their own business.

Therefore, Moldovans sleep a few hours less than the amount recommended by specialists. The latter ones claim that a person requires 6-8 hours of sleep daily and sleep should include at least a few hours from the interval 22:00 – 02:00 – at this Moldovans are doing better. Otherwise we risk getting diabetes due to lack of sleep, to become obese and to have immunity related issues, to develop psychiatric related problems and to become unproductive both from cognitive and physical point of view.
